DWELLINGS

Our very first home was this quaint little home that we have now turned into a rental. It was the perfect first home- a backyard for entertaining guests, a kitchen large enough for takeout (we were newly married), and hardwood floors. The screened in porch was the icing on top.

We did a few updates to the exterior of the home before moving, including landscaping and replacing the awnings.

In between homes, we lived in my grandmother's farmhouse. Our grand plan is to completely remodel it one day, keeping the old farm charm with modern upgrades. I'm looking at you bronze farmhouse sink.

We then, by happenstance, purchased this town home in the middle of town.

We weren't really looking to buy a home, but as I trolled real estate listings (as I often do in my spare time; its a sickness, really) my first instinct told me that it was a good investment. I mentioned it to Charlie and a week later we were under contract. Patience has never been our virtue. We enjoyed living in town, and especially having the ability to walk to nearly every restaurant and shop in downtown. Just as we never had plans to buy it, we never had plans to sell it...until we had an offer out of the blue.

The layout was what sold me completely. The perfect plan for a student, young couple, or retiree.

View from the kitchen looking into the living room.

Living room looking into the kitchen. Great flow for entertaining! On the left side of the hallway, the guest bathroom was the perfect size to serve as a powder room or for guests.

Directly across from the hallway, the guest bedroom looked out onto the front porch. Lots of natural light!

One of my absolute favorite parts of living here was this kitchen. The windows looked into downtown and I could see right into the living room while cooking. (Or while eating takeout.)

The master bedroom was located directly off the kitchen, and it was nice to have it on the back of the house away from guests. Everyone felt like they had their own space. Again, windows provided great natural light looking out onto the back porch.

And the final selling point- a private back porch.

That unexpected offer to buy the town home led us to our biggest project yet.

Remodeling- not for the faint of heart!
